Step 1 - Registering Domain Name The first thing you should do is register a domain name. You might have seen GoDaddy ads on television but there are lot many such domain registrars on the web. We have always chosen NameCheap as our favorite domain registrar as the domain registration process and setup are quite easy and perfectly suitable for a novice user. Moreover, they have got live chat support to help you in troubled times. You should have a domain in your mind or go with our domain name suggestion tool to find the perfect domain. You can register .com, .in, .net, .org, .info, .co, .co.uk, .us, .me, .biz, .tv, .mobi, and lot many TLDs supported. Among the popular TLDs are the .com, .net and .info but I would recommend finding a domain with .com as the extension. So visit NameCheap, signup for a free account, and buy the domain of your choice. Note that domain charges are per year cost and the .com domain will cost you $11 per year. Typically any hosting provider has 99.9% uptime and they are always ON so that your website is always on the web. A thousand hosting provider exists on the web to make it more confusing to you. There is shared hosting, cloud hosting, VPS hosting, Dedicated hosting, Collocated Hosting, and Managed to host. Step 3: DNS Setup Once the domain and hosting have been purchased, it's time to point your domain to your space on the server. It's like giving your address to the public so that they can reach you. It works the same way on websites as well. Obtain the domain name server (DNS or generally referred to as nameservers) address from your hosting provider and go to the Settings panel under your domain management. Now update with the new DNS and click on Save. It will take 48 hours for DNS to propagate and once that is done you will be able to login into your cPanel.Most of the time for me DNS propagation is done within 2-4 hours. So, you will not have to wait any longer. Step 4: Setting up WordPress | Installing CMS Software Once the DNS propagates, you can directly go head into your cPanel. The cPanel URL is provided in the welcome email and generally, it's yourdomain.com/cpanel. From cPanel you can do a lot many things, like install WordPress, Joomla, or any other CMS or blogging scripts. To have one website just like this, you will have to install WordPress Script, an easy-to-manage popular script. Most cPanel comes with one-click WordPress install, so you need to worry about it. It's simple and very easy. Inside your cPanel, you will find Softaculous App Installer, and use it you can install a number of scripts automatically. Once through Softaculous, Click on WordPress. Click on Install. Provide the destination folder to which you are installing the WordPress script. Now provide your WordPress blog title, email ID, and admin password to login. Note down the Admin login page. Now the WordPress installation has been done, it's time to customize, add text and let your friends know about it. Step 5: Choosing WordPress Theme For the start, I recommend going with free themes which come with WordPress installation. You can get it by going through Appearance > Themes. I recommend you Install the default WordPress theme like the Twenty Seventeen theme as of now and later on you can purchase professional themes, which is highly recommended.
