Get Your Own Website Getting your own website online with a custom domain name (name of your choice) is quite easy. There are three things involved in a perfect website - \tDomain Name: Address by which people will be knowing your site \tHosting Provider (The web server): To host your file online and make it available all the time for access. \tDNS setup: Connecting Domain name to the server. Nothing more than 7 steps are involved and let's get started. Are you ready to begin a new journey? Step 1 - Registering Domain Name The first thing you should do is register a domain name. You might have seen GoDaddy ads on television but there are lot many such domain registrars on the web. Moreover, they have got live chat support to help you in troubled times. You should have a domain in your mind or go with our domain name suggestion tool to find the perfect domain. Among the popular TLDs are the .com, .net and .info but I would recommend finding a domain with .com as the extension. So visit NameCheap, signup for a free account, and buy the domain of your choice. Note that domain charges are per year cost and the .com domain will cost you $11 per year. There is shared hosting, cloud hosting, VPS hosting, Dedicated hosting, Collocated Hosting, and Managed to host. You shouldn't be worried about any such as the choice is pretty simple - shared hosting since you want to get your website for a minimum cost on the web. You can choose any hosting provider but our recommendations are to go with the following - NameCheap Hosting: This hosting will cost you $3 per month. HostGator Shared Hosting: Although we had a problem with HostGator in the past, still we can't deny that Gator leads the competition when it comes to hosting. HostGator Alternatives You can choose the famous shared hosting providers - \tBlueHost \tNameCheap Shared Hosting \tKnownhost \tCloudways So read - 5 Best low cost web hosting to start blogging Cost Calculation A domain name usually costs $10 to $20 per year. Any unlimited web hosting costs $4 to $7 per month, i.e., $30 to $70 per year depending upon the hosting type. For starters, you can go with a shared web hosting plan. Total cost $100 per year So your website will be costing you $100 per year but it's better to divide it into monthly income. Step 3: DNS Setup Once the domain and hosting have been purchased, it's time to point your domain to your space on the server. It's like giving your address to the public so that they can reach you. It works the same way on websites as well. Obtain the domain name server (DNS or generally referred to as nameservers) address from your hosting provider and go to the Settings panel under your domain management. Now update with the new DNS and click on Save. It will take 48 hours for DNS to propagate and once that is done you will be able to login into your cPanel. Most of the time for me DNS propagation is done within 2-4 hours. So, you will not have to wait any longer. Step 4: Setting up WordPress | Installing CMS Software Once the DNS propagates, you can directly go head into your cPanel. The cPanel URL is provided in the welcome email and generally, it's yourdomain.com/cpanel. From cPanel you can do a lot many things, like install WordPress, Joomla, or any other CMS or blogging scripts. To have one website just like this, you will have to install WordPress Script, an easy-to-manage popular script. Most cPanel comes with one-click WordPress install, so you need to worry about it. It's simple and very easy. Inside your cPanel, you will find Softaculous App Installer, and use it you can install a number of scripts automatically. \tOnce through Softaculous, Click on WordPress. \tClick on Install. \tProvide the destination folder to which you are installing the WordPress script. \tNow provide your WordPress blog title, email ID, and admin password to login. \tNote down the Admin login page. Now the WordPress installation has been done, it's time to customize, add text and let your friends know about it. Step 5: Choosing WordPress Theme For the start, I recommend going with free themes which come with WordPress installation. You can get it by going through Appearance > Themes. I recommend you Install the default WordPress theme like the Twenty Seventeen theme as of now and later on you can purchase professional themes, which is highly recommended. Some of the professional WordPress themes providers are - \tThemeForest \tStudioPress \tMyThemeShop In my recommendations, go with StudioPress because you can use their theme on unlimited sites. All themes at ThemeForest and MyThemeshop come with just one site license. So with that, your own custom name website is up and you are now ready to enjoy blogging life.
